There are two reasons for finishing wood; to protect it, or to beautify it. French Polishing is a way of protecting and enhancing the natural beauty of wood. 

 

French Polishing is the application of micro fine layers of shellac, to build up a crystal clear finish.  To be able to bring back the lustre, takes years of experience and patience.  This attention to detail and quality of finish, cannot be recreated in any other way.

 

These natural products are applied by hand, lovingly, and with great care and consideration, to the item being cared for.

 

It is wonderful to see a piece of furniture restored to it’s original state, or to see a masterpiece come to life, and maybe it’s value increased.

 

Not only is wood finishing now accepted as a trade, it is rapidly becoming a science and an art form.
